North American P-51D 44-74960 "Missy"

The aircraft currently under restoration is P-51D 44-74960. It will be finished in the makings of "Missy", flown by Lt. James G Bartley of the 352nd Fighter Squadron. This aircraft and her pilot have not been honored yet among the flying Mustangs. The high visibility colors will also be a plus for safety. This P-51 is former N5459V, now N50191.

Below are the latest photos of the fuselage under restoration.

Our aircraft uses pieces from two wrecks, one a WWII combat veteran. The aircraft flew in the Soccer War in South America. We are restoring her to TF configuration.

The airframe is a restoration of an original Mustang which was manufactured in Inglewood, CA, and delivered to the USAAF on July 14, 1945.

In 1958 Wes Stetson and Joyce Haven owned this aircraft and it had an N# of N2869D. Wes bought the aircraft on a bid for $1,500. The aircraft had a shiny unpainted aluminum fuselage and a picture under the exhaust stacks of a baby tiger looking over it's shoulder and with it's back feet spread out showing his foot pads.
